NOMADA
Helge Letonja with the Ensemble Of Curious Nature
“And everything that is perceived, thought, felt and dreamed with the senses exists.” Paul Radin
Nomada is the intangible that has always been on the move. The one that makes you struggle for composure. Its life force springs from fire. If you try to locate it, a whirlwind of data particles will catch you. She moves along winding paths as an archaic walking body and becomes disembodied in the digital world, effortlessly switching between environments.
Nomada emerges between dancing bodies, ancient myths and videographic images, allowing seemingly immovable opposites to collide. In the face of nature under pressure and of human confusion inflicted by artificial intelligence, she laughs at the all changes, escapes any grip, meets you in dreams and emerges from the ashes of your bonfires, where you sit weeping for each and every dying species.
The Ensemble Of Curious Nature seeks physical approaches to the themes of changing habitats and transformation. In collaboration with the award-winning composer Miguel Marin, on whose versatile and intense commissioned composition the evening unfolds, and the filmmaker Isabel Robson, the choreographer Helge Letonja and the dancers explore the lives and mindsets of nomads.
Isabel Robson’s walk-through videographic installation forms a prologue to the piece. Like the dancers, the audience enters the stage as a videographic associative space and finds its way between the digital moving images, gets in the swing of the evening before coming to rest in the auditorium. A change of perspective as an introduction to the evening before the artists of Of Curious Nature unleash the dance.
