Wan-Yun Chen

Wan-Yun, born in New Taipei (Taiwan), began dancing as a child. She initially trained in traditional dances from her home country and in classical ballet, but her curiosity soon led her to contemporary dance and urban dance styles. She attended a professional dance programme at BeiAn Junior High School and ZhongZheng Senior High School, where she learned a wide range of dance forms and techniques. After high school, Wan-Yun was accepted into the Amsterdam Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (AHK). Her time at AHK was characterised by intensive training, creative exploration and numerous performances. Wan-Yun completed her studies in 2023 and from then on danced freelance in ‘Miniature’ by Elisa Zuppini and in ‘Danslab on Tour#2’ by SALLY Dansgezelschap Maastricht, with whom she had already toured internationally as an apprentice the year before.

Since the start of the 2024/25 season, Wan-Yun is a permanent ensemble member at OCN.
