Kossi Sebastien Aholou-Wokawui
Kossi Sebastien Aholou-Wokawui grew up in Togo, where he studied traditional and contemporary African dance as well as modern and jazz dance in various ensembles. Aholou-Wokawui trained with Stephanie Tiersch and at the École des Sables in Senegal. Since 2006, he has been choreographing his own works with vaudeville singer Vanessa Worou. He began to work continuously with steptext dance project in 2012, performing internationally in productions by Helge Letonja and Augusto Jaramillo Pineda. In 2018, he choreographed the biographical duet “Dans la peau de l’autre” (“In each other’s skin”) with Tomas Bünger, which was presented in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in Lomé, Togo and in Bremen.
In cooperation with various partners, Aholou-Wokawui teaches workshops in contemporary Afro dance and creates trans-cultural dance-theater projects for young people.
