Simon Goff
Simon Goff has always been a musician that has been seeking the space between genres. Growing up as a violinist performing in concert halls around the north of England, he also spent time learning from the legendary session bassist Herbie flowers (David Bowie, Lou Reed -Walk on the Wild Side).
Now residing in Berlin, Germany, he has found a home where is own music is able to speak. He has spent the last years exploring how the violin can be manipulated a processed to create a unique sound world that focuses on where acoustic and electronic sounds can meet. His live performances merge these worlds harmoniously and shift effortlessly between intimate fragility to expansive cinematic soundscapes.
A collaborator to the likes of Andrea Belfi (Float), Federico Albanese (Neue Meister), Peter Broderick (Erased Tapes), Thor Harris (Swans) and Xiu Xiu to name a few, he has performed at the like of Funkhaus (Berlin, DE) the South Bank Centre (London, UK), Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg, DE) and CTM Festival (Berlin, De).
As well as a performer, he works regularly in studios making records and soundtracks with other artists both as a musician and sound engineer/producer. He has worked with the likes of Apparat, Johann Johannsson, Dustin O’Halleron, Hauschka and Hildur Gudnadottir on her recent Award winning scores for Chernobyl (Emmy, HBO) and the Joker (Golden globe, Oscar).
His theatre credits include Dies Irae (Kay Voges, Burg Thater Wien), Turbulence (Helge Letonja, Schwankhalle Bremen), Das Fremde (Johanna Rogan, Hellerau Dresden), Chorus x groove space (Sebastian Matthias, Theater Freiburg), Danserye (Sebastian Matthias, Kampnagel Hamburg/Sophiensäle Berlin).
